The game had a very big importance for second-ranked A.Lobos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. A.Lobos defeated 6th ranked Independiente at home 82-71. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Independiente. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of center Marc Montavious (206-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 18 rebounds and 6 blocks. Guard Jerome Savoy (185, college: Pfeiffer) contributed with 29 points for the winners. Swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) answered with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for Independiente. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Independiente at the other side keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Independiente will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. A.Lobos will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Brujos in Izalco.

Independiente have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 6-7 record. Cojute at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Independiente will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cojute will play at home against Santa Ana (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game for San Salvador (10-3) which hosted in San Salvador 4th placed Cojute (8-5). Third ranked San Salvador had an easy win 94-73. Brayan Garcia nailed a double-double by scoring 31 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect behind the arc making all six shots !!!) for the winning side. San Salvador's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Troidell Carter came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds for Cojute in the defeat. San Salvador moved-up to second place. Loser Cojute keeps the fourth position with five games lost. San Salvador will meet Santa Ana (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Cojute will play against Santa Ana (#8) and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 13 Santa Tecla was smashed by Ahuachapan on the road 112-86. Santa Tecla lost to Brujos on its own court 85-86.




Independiente - Cojute 79-76

Important game to mention about took place in . Sixth ranked Independiente (6-7) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 4th placed Cojute (8-5) 79-76 on Monday evening. Independiente outrebounded Cojute 53-37 including 17 on the offensive glass. American players dominated also this game. Swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Nick Moore (198-1991, college: Alliance) chipped in 12 points and 16 rebounds. Four Independiente players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Troidell Carter (206-1991, college: Slippery Rock) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and guard Jeremy Agosto (177-1997) scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when tenth ranked Ahuachapan (1-11) crushed at home 9th ranked Santa Tecla (2-11) 112-86 on Tuesday. Ahuachapan had a 36-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. American-Colombian center Freddy Asprilla (206-1988, college: Canisius) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points, 25 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and American guard EJ Blackwell (193, college: Lourdes) accounted for 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Alejandro Barahona (189-1999) came up with a triple-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists and Luis Portal (188-1986) added 24 points respectively for Santa Tecla in the defeat. Five Ahuachapan and four Santa Tecla players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ahuachapan maintains tenth place with 1-11 record. It was Santa Tecla's sixth loss in a row. They keep the ninth position with 11 games lost. Rather expected game when 9th ranked Santa Tecla (2-11) was edged at home by seventh ranked Brujos (5-7) 86-85 on Thursday. Brujos forced 23 Santa Tecla turnovers. Strangely Santa Tecla outrebounded Brujos 50-28 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Marcus Millien (188-2000, college: Carlow) nailed a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds for the winning side and Julio Crespin (184-1997) accounted for 14 points. Brujos' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Honduran Francisco Forbs (198-1999) came up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds and Luis Portal (188-1986) added 24 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Santa Tecla in the defeat. Four Santa Tecla players scored in double figures. Brujos maintains seventh place with 5-7 record. Santa Tecla lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 11 games lost. Brujos will meet at home league's leader A.Lobos in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Santa Tecla will play against Metapan (#3) and hope to secure a win.
